The Morena bench in the Congress of Mexico City has proposed a series of initiatives that will be sent by the Head of Government, Clara Brugada, aimed at providing guarantees of attention and security to women in the capital in commemoration of '8M', International Women's Day.
Deputy Adriana Espinosa de los Monteros announced that the reforms will focus on strengthening the police response capabilities in areas where gender-based crimes have the highest incidence in the 16 boroughs. The aim is to reinforce the territorial model of the police, as well as to reform various laws and protocols related to the Secretary of Citizen Security of Mexico City.
On another note, legislator Ana Buendía announced the creation of a fund aimed at providing scholarships to boys and girls who have been orphaned due to femicide violence. This plan is based on the precedent of the Valentina Scholarship in the State of Mexico and will include reforms in several laws and regulations related to victims and gender-based violence in Mexico City.
The coordinator of the Morena Bench, Xóchitl Bravo, reaffirmed the support of the party's deputies for President Claudia Sheinbaum. This support came after the informative assembly led by Sheinbaum in the main square of the capital, where national sovereignty and Mexico's interests were advocated in the face of threats of a trade war by the President of the United States.
Regarding the actions of the Government of the Republic, Bravo mentioned that they will continue to focus on providing support to those who need it most, highlighting the increase in the minimum wage, the strengthening of social programs to accelerate social equality, job creation, the promotion of social housing, and public policies to strengthen food self-sufficiency and energy autonomy.
